Floral Angels

Welcome to another challenge over at the Sweet Stampin’. This weeks theme is Inspired by a Song or Film. Our monthly sponsor with a £10 voucher is Joanna Sheen. And this weeks weekly sponsor is Papelitos Stamps who will give 3 digis for our first place-winner and 1 digi to the second place-winner.

My card is inspired by the movie ”Just like heaven” starring Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo. This is one of my favorite romantic movies, and I don’t really know why. But it’s perfect when you want a romantic one with a hint of sadness:). It’s about a boy that sees a ghost and it turned out that the ghost is girl who is in a coma. When i saw the clouds of this adorable stamp I just thought about this movie. Entangled in the plot is a garden and it was the garden that inspired my papers for this card. The blue-ish paper that i used also has an floral pattern, but it’s tone on tone with glossy details.

The Stamp is from Papelitos Stamps and is called Angels Love. I really like it, it’s just so cute, but i have to admit I’m a bit disappointed due to the resolution it it. I did print it fairly small but I can see pixels which I don’t like.I tried something new when i Colored the hair. Both the girl and the boy is based on the Cool Grays, but the girl have a base-layer of green, and the boy has one in blue. i really like how different it turned out.

The papers is from KaiserCraft and I bought this paperpack due to the floral paper long ago and just thought it would be perfect. The layout is inspired by this weeks layout over at the Sketch N Stash.

To accompany the card I also made a tealight-box. The though from the beginning was to make a tealight-card but I actually ran out of cardstock and couldn’t find a matching one downtown so it became a card and box instead. The box has an acetate-window that have been embossed with my swiss dot embossingfolder, but It might be a bit hard to see. A long time ago i made myself a template for the tealight-card so I did use this measurements for it.

The inside is made but it’s fairly regular so I didn’t get a photo.

Theo’s 1th birthday

Have have to admit myself to be a bad godmother to little Theo. His birthday was this weekend and he still haven’t got a birthday-card. I started on but i have had a hard time getting back to everyday-life after the wedding and after-wedding-stuff. But i finally finished it so it will go in the mail in a second, better late then never I hope.

Anyway… I colored in one of my new stamps from the Greeting Farm’s set Just for You. I just love The Greeting Farm’s boys, not that to fond of the girls strangely enough. I colored him after the paper ”Wish” from the Mind My Eye’s collection Fly a kite. I really like how the hat and shirt turned out, i like my latest buy of Copic more and more every day. The Paper is from My Mind’s Eye and the nice border is from the edge of one of the papers in the same collection. I have distressed the blue papers with Broken China and the green with peeled paint. The gray cardstock have been inked with memento’s tuxedo black.  I also doodled around the edges to get a more whimsy and fun look.

The greeting is handwritten by me and means ”Congratulations”. The banner is made with my new die from MFT, the First award ribbon-die. I love the banner shape and just get annoyed when they don’t get straight so I bought the die – and it’s perfect! You will so see more banners from now on! The Number one is put on a tag from Tim Holtz’s Tiny Tabs and Tags, and i backed the tag with a gray paper that i cut with a nestabilitie circle.

Sewing Mice

This weeks Challenge over at the Sweet Stampin’ is Paper Piecing, so lets you all your pieced images.

Our sponsor this month is a £10 voucher from Joanna Sheen. And our weekly sponsor is Bunny Zoe with a £10 gift voucher.

So todays card is featuring paper-piecing. I paper pieced the stuffed animal with the green paper from this collection that I also used as a corner treatment. I have also tried my new sewing-machine for the first time for my cards, and I just love it. I have to fins a place for it so I can use it more often. The brads looks like buttons. The card feel a bit empty I know so maybe I’ll redo it later, but now I need to go shop for fabric for the tablecloth for the wedding.

Short one today, I have so much to do about the wedding. Next update will probably be my napkin-holders. After that I’ll be back in august, after the wedding and honeymoon.

Vintage Kitchen-mice

So today I actually made time to sit down and just play around with all my toys. The plan was, from the beginning, that I might color some and try out the new colors I got the other week. But I found a House Mouse image laying on my desk that i colored a while back that I just need to use somehow. I realized I haven’t made a House Mouse for like months! And of course I had to change that. So i looked through my calendar and found out that my aunt has her birthday next Tuesday so i decided to make this one for her.

She is bit more modern then this card but the image just gives me a feeling of old country kitchen in Italy (for some reason) and i hope she will love it anyway. So I looked through my stash of paper and found these nice papers from Pion Design which inspired me to do the card even more vintage so everything have been distressed with Vintage Photo. I also added a layer of vintage photo over the entire image so it would match better with the colors and have the same warmth to it. The doily is also covered with ink. The inside is made in the same fashion.

The Image is cut out using my new and fabulous rectangle nestabilities, bot the regular and the scallop one. I could only afford the large or the small one when i made that order so I chose the Large one in hope that it would work with the big stamps from House Mouse.. and look they fit perfectly! I couldn’t be happier. The image is as usual colored with copics.

I used this weeks Sketch Saturday Sketch for the layout and I did keep fairly true to it. The sentiments tab is a die from MFT and the sentiment is from Gina K’s Garden Silhouettes. The sentiment is stamped with Memento Rich Cacao.

I used some cream pearls so make the card a bit softer and to give it a more embellished look. Unfortunately I were out of the smaller ones so I used the big size. I still wish that I had the smaller ones but it turned out ok anyway.

Black and White Mice with icecream

So i just made the first card in 2012, whoho! The card is for an old high scool-friend that turns 25 next week. I have no idea what colors she like and i knew House Mouse had a black and white challnge i thought it would be perfect.

The mice i colored with mostly neutral grays and some addition of cold grays. I really like how the darker mice’s fur turned out, the light one was hard to get the texture without making it darker so i kept it as i was. The edge of the ice cream-label and the text is also painted with some sakura stardust-pen, it’s a bit hard to see on the picture but you can see that it do have another shade then the rest.

The papers that is used is of an unknown brand, I did buy a couple of sheets as a pack but they came as loose papers. If anyone recognize them please tell me. The scalloped edge is made with Jumbo Scalloped from My Favorite Things. The flowers are made with EK Sucess’ Medium retro Flower and Flowerpower punch. I also used some doilies and they are my forgotten item for this card. A long time ago i bought a lot of dodilies from Panduro but they apparently ended up in the bottom of my paperstash, because that were i found them when i went into the wardrobe and for my hidden-away-papers.

But the most exciting is the brads! Some days ago i got a nice package home in in mailbox containing We R Memory Keepers Brad Setter and Piercing Tool. I ordered it when Amy recommended it with the comment that it might seem like a waster but that once you use it you’ll love it. I always get annoyed that my brads don’t line up due to the fact that when i open the legs they get uneven. And after using it on this card I just have to say: I LOVE IT! It’s simple, saves my fingers from getting the bradlegs under my nails, and the brads get straight- so simple and just wonderful!

A New Year and top 7 from 2011

Happy New Year to everyone!

So I decided to make top 5 of my cards i made the last year. And i will try go get better ones during this year. This is also my way of playing around now when I’m away from home:)

So after looking at the cards made last year i realized that i couldn’t keep it to only 5 so i had to come do a top 7 instead. So here is my top 7 (in no specific order)

Holly Jolly Deer

A Micely Cupcake for my grandfather

Fruity fun on Hello Luscious

I Got my Mojo back

Disney’s Mickey and friends

Masuline Train

A House Mouse Graduation-card

A Blue and Purple Fathom Calmsea

I got a nice tip from Birgitte the other day about an challenge over at the Copic Challenge Group that is about colors of the sea and of coarse got a nice fuzzy feeling and started out another of Sweet November’s mermaids, this time Fathom Calmsea.

Sense the challenge was about colors if the sea i had to keep to the blue theme but i do some more water-like before so i wanted to make this one not so extremely obvious. So i checked through my stash and found DCWV’s Winter Combo stack and wanted to use it. I started out with the light paper and thought it reminded me a bot of seaweeds and corals.

I colored Fathom Calmsea and the three Lios accordingly to the papers. I really like the green touches and I can almost see her peeking up from a puddle of seaweed:) I also tried a new way of coloring the tail. I wanted to get a more fish-like feeling with scales but didn’t want the normal round scale so i tried some horizontal lines. Björn said it look like mackerel so it it worked on him at least.

The divider between the two background-papers is made with the Dainty Dots-die from My Favorite Things. For embellishments i used a baby blue satin ribbon and some light blue rhinestones. The card is made from this weeks Midnight Madness Sketch. Instead of the circular parts of the sketch i placed Lio to take up that space. The greeting is ”You make me Happy” in Swedish.

Stamp: CC Designs Sweet November Fathom Calmsea and Lio. Vilda Stämplars ”Du gör mig glad”

Copic: E11, E21, E51, E93, R20, R22, B00, B41, B32, BV02, BV13, BV04, YG17, YG13, 0

Papers: DCWV’s  Winter Combo Stack

Other: My Favorite Things’ Dainty Dots. Spellbinders scalloped and normal oval

A floral Bubbels

So after a lot of christmas-cards i felt like making a card for my own pleasure and sense i really wanted to do a card with Sweet November’s Bubbles Lostlagoon.I just love her hair and she is the the only sitting figure i have so far so next time i will have to make something for her to sit on.

I first deiced that i wanted to use Bo Bunny’s Barefoot Bliss so I tried to color accordantly to the papers. I started our with the green tail and then kept going with the hair. I did want it to be a bit orange/yellow to match the hibiscus-flowers of the paper but i didn’t found a good combination due to the fact that i only have one orange so it got the be a bit more yellow. I don’t think it have enough contrast but that will have to be for the next time. The orange pen is an Copic original pen and i had a really hard time to blend it well when i used it direct to the paper, and i think it got a bit to soft when i used the tip to tip method with the Y17.

The frame for Bubbles is made with scalloped circles and circles nestabilities and the white oval have been embossed/letterpressed with the circles impressabilities. The tag is made with Tim Holtz’s Tiny Tab & tags and i backed the tag on a blue circle made with nestabilities circle. The stamp is from the text-set from Reprint (the swedish word for Thanks). The wave on the bottom is made with My Favorite Things Jumbo Scallop. The inside is made with the same wave.

Stamp: CC Designs Sweet November Bubbles Lostlagoon, Reprint’s Text-set

Copics: E11, E21, E51, E93, YG17, YG13, YG11, Y00, B24, B21, N3, BG49, BG02, YR09, Y17, Y08, 0

Papers: Bo Bunny’s Barefoot Bliss

Dies: Spellbinder’s Scalloped and normal Ovals, Tim Holtz’s Tiny Tabs & Tags, My favorite Things’ Jumbo Scalloped Die-namic

Summer Hello Luscious

I’m just so stupid, i have been doing this card all evening with the thought that the Kraftin’ Kimmie recipe was: a bow, a button and a chipboard. Sigh. Well fortunate i seem to have everything everyday if you count the flowers on the paper, which i do.

Well anyway… The card is made based on Basic Gray’s collection Hello Luscious and both paper and buttons are from that collection. To get some dimension i did run the brown paper through my paper crimper and i used a piece of thick chipboard that i glued the blueish paper to. I did sand the paper on the chipboard to get the white of the paper and the chipboard to blend together. The sides, on the outside and on the inside is painted black with a magic marker just so the gray won’t show.

The stamp that is used is Kraftin’ Kimmie’s Florence and the sentiment is from Gina K’s Fanciful Tags. I did paper pieced Florence dress with the same paper I used in the top border. Otherwise she is colored and shadowed with copics. I’m not happy with the lower part of the face. Stupidly enough i did the glasses last so i spilled some black onto the face and when i tried to save it the colors got separated and bad, and it felt like it got worse the more i tried to save it so i gave up.

The black twine and the brown ribbon is some generic kind that i just had laying around. It was the same with the chipboard, i got it in a free sample pack a long time ago and i don’t remember from were i got it.

The colors of the card ain’t that true in this picture. It’s stormy outside so i had a hard time to get a good light to take the picture in so the colors are a bit brighter then in real life. The card also look very much more dimensional then on the picture, it might be the colors that makes it look flat but i also had to take the photo of the card laying down which probably doesn’t help…

An inside will probably come tomorrow, I’m just to tired now and will get something to eat…

Copic: E00, E11, E13, E39, E35, Y21, 0, C0, C2, C10, C8, C6

I got my Mojo back

I think i have my mojo back! For the last couple of days i think that everything i do gets OK or worse but today I’m so happy with my card! I really think it’s a success and i really think it’s well balanced! I got my Mojo back, and with a MOJO sketch- how fun isn’t that? 🙂

This card is for my dear brother. His birthday was for a few month ago but we haven’t seen each other so i haven’t hurried with the card until now (we will meet this weekend). So a bit late, maybe, bu Happy brithday Oskar!

I did choose the colors by that fact that my dear brother told me he liked dark red and green and gray colors with a bit of old texture. I didn’t fin and burgundy or grays but i really like this green paper from Grapic45’s collection Le Cirque so i kept going from that one. All the papers i used if from the same collection. The stamps or circus-pictures that i used across the card is also from the same collection and i simple cut them out and put them up on foamdots.

I did use this weeks MOJO Monday sketch for my layout. The focal-point is a Tim Holtz sentiment from the set Urban Chic. I actually started out with the sentiment, that i really is suitable for my brother when he really is out there living his life. I was after i had the sentiment i wanted the circus-stamps. I think it work very well together and i hope my brother will understand the connection and that I’m just amazed over his lifestyle. Anyway… i did frame the sentiment with my new favorite Nestabilitie, the label 18. I cut it out with one of the smaller dies and the traced around the outside of the die on a black paper to get a smaller frame to back it to then i would have got if I used the bigger die for the frame. That is one thing i dislike with the labels, that it’s a big difference between the dies but as long it can be traced around I’m not gonna be to noisy about it.

The green paper and the sentiment have been distressed with Peeled Paint and all the other papers have been with distressed with Antique Linen. The scalloped border is made by my new (and i think it will be an favorite) MFT’s Jumbo scalloped border. I did cut it twice, once in the dotted paper and once in the black so i could the a nice definition against the other papers. The other embellishments are the already mentioned stamps and some regular black brads and some black twine. I did embellish the corners with one of the corner-dies in the vintage die-set.  I so love the contrasts in the card, brought fourth by the black details.

I tried to keep the same layout for the bottom of the inside with a feel smal changes, of course, to give space for the written greeting. The stamp that is used is from Penny Black’s clearstamp-set Critter Party.

Papers: Grapic 45’s collection Le Cirque

Stamp: Tim Holtz’s Urban Chic, Penny Black’s Critter Party

Dies: Spellbinder’s Label 18, MFT’s jumbo scallop border

Other: Peeled Paint and Antique Linen Distress Inks.
