Happy Dinosaurs

2013-02-10, 1

(another picture with my phone- I have to get a new camera)

So This weekend I have been working on a card for my godson Gabriel’s first birthday. The card is OK but I’m not thrilled- but it have been a joy sitting and crafting for hours:)2013-02-10, 3

I have wanted to use this stamp from The Greeting farm for a long time and It’s just perfect for a little boy. It’s colored with copics as usual but both dinosaurs is paperpieced and then shadow with copics. The stamp has one more dinosaur but sense he was freestanding and not as cute I didn’t use him.

The papers are from Kaiser craft and I added the doodling around all the edges to get some contrast and to get a more whimsical look. The paper with the balloons have glossy details and that’s why the doodling haven’t stuck to it. The diamonds-paper have and metal shine to the orange diamonds ( which looks black on the photo) which made it hard to photograph. I made the card with this weeks sketch form Sketch saturday.

Challenges

Theo’s 1th birthday

Have have to admit myself to be a bad godmother to little Theo. His birthday was this weekend and he still haven’t got a birthday-card. I started on but i have had a hard time getting back to everyday-life after the wedding and after-wedding-stuff. But i finally finished it so it will go in the mail in a second, better late then never I hope.

Anyway… I colored in one of my new stamps from the Greeting Farm’s set Just for You. I just love The Greeting Farm’s boys, not that to fond of the girls strangely enough. I colored him after the paper ”Wish” from the Mind My Eye’s collection Fly a kite. I really like how the hat and shirt turned out, i like my latest buy of Copic more and more every day. The Paper is from My Mind’s Eye and the nice border is from the edge of one of the papers in the same collection. I have distressed the blue papers with Broken China and the green with peeled paint. The gray cardstock have been inked with memento’s tuxedo black.  I also doodled around the edges to get a more whimsy and fun look.

The greeting is handwritten by me and means ”Congratulations”. The banner is made with my new die from MFT, the First award ribbon-die. I love the banner shape and just get annoyed when they don’t get straight so I bought the die – and it’s perfect! You will so see more banners from now on! The Number one is put on a tag from Tim Holtz’s Tiny Tabs and Tags, and i backed the tag with a gray paper that i cut with a nestabilitie circle.

Graduation-Edward

This week my eldest cousin graduates and unfortunately neither me or my family will be able to go. Instead I have made this card to arrive with our gift.

I’m at writing moment really sick and I can’t believe I actually succeeded to make a card. I have to admit that the inside and my handwriting is terrible but the front is really good considering.

The image is The Greeting Farm’s Edward and the paper I used is My Minds Eye. The Swedish colors are yellow and blue and I wanted to make a card in these color sense they are traditional graduation colors here. I got my graduation-papers out and really disliked them all all of a sudden, I wanted more depth. So i went through my papers for anything yellow and blue and found these. The sentiment is from Amy R’s Big Words & Handy additions set.

The yellow paper have been heavenly distressed with Mustard Seed to get a bit brighter yellow.

A Flirty Nordic Edward

So i decided to get my creative juices flowing so i looked through some of my colored images and looked around the net for some inspiration and i found something good. Tammy made this beutiful edward-card and i really loved how she used the colored rick racs and i wanted to make a similar one. Mine ended up very similar but I’m still happy about it.

I started out with die-cutting my Edward (the one i colored on my copic-coarse) with nestabilities small labels. You can’t really see it on the card because i thought it looked a bit to simple and small so i put the ribbons over the edges instead. My ric rac’s are med with the Classic Ric Rac edgeabilities. The greeting is the Swedish word for ”Congratulations” and are from Vilda Stamps. For the greetings banner i used the Wonky Rectangles Wonky Nestabilities to make the v-cut. Both the background and greeting is colored with Warm Gray copics.

Stamp: The Greeting Farm – Flirty Edward. Vilda Stamps – Grattis

Copic: E51, E21, E11, E93, E49, E29, E37, R59, E46, R29, W1, W3

Paper: Basic Gray – Nordic Holiday

Die: Spellbinder – Edgeabilities – Classic Ric Rac, Spellbinder – Nestabilities – Small Labels and Wonky Rectangles

A New Year and top 7 from 2011

Happy New Year to everyone!

So I decided to make top 5 of my cards i made the last year. And i will try go get better ones during this year. This is also my way of playing around now when I’m away from home:)

So after looking at the cards made last year i realized that i couldn’t keep it to only 5 so i had to come do a top 7 instead. So here is my top 7 (in no specific order)

Holly Jolly Deer

A Micely Cupcake for my grandfather

Fruity fun on Hello Luscious

I Got my Mojo back

Disney’s Mickey and friends

Masuline Train

A House Mouse Graduation-card

Holly Jolly Deer

I have to admit that i have fallen head over heels with the deer and the squirrls from the Greeting Farm’s Forest friends. I did stamp up some during the scrapgathering but im starting to run low on them,so i just HAD to order the set for myself – a good use for the money i got from my grandma in cristmas gift. Some other (lots…) find it’s way into my ordering-baskets so I can’t wait for my mailbox to be full of goodies, but it will probobly be for after the 7th when i get home again from the baptism of my godson (that’s the card that is comming up).

I have been thinking a lot about this card, especially the papers and I have been wondering what would be suitable as a focal to them, so after some thinking i decided that the Deer would be good- as a raindeer-feel. So i colored the Deer with Copics, and got happy with it and then started to pull a couple of papers from the Holly Jolly Christmas-collection from Echo Park, then i got some cardstock to match and put it all in front of me. And then i spilled the biggest glass of milk over it all! Let’s just say that it was annoying and that i dried all the papers with my embossing-gun. All paper was ok, a bit wobbly but ok, except for the deer so i had to redo him, i have to say that the second one got a bit better- but still….

I used a Cute Card Thursday’s Sketch for the layout, just changing a bit. I also followed the colors of this weeks Shabby Tea Room.

The decorations on this card is mostly the rhinestones and the ribbon but i also put a hint of diamond stickles on some of the christmaslight-paper. The background of the Deer is made with some nestabilities (scalloped and normal oval) and the white paper is embossed with Provocraft’s embossingfolder Snowflakes. The greeting is stamped with the distress Ink Gathered Twigs.

Stamp: The Greeting Farm – Forest Friends. Arkivet – cirkel God Jul

Copic: E31, E33, E35, E37, E39, C10 + White Gelly Roll Pen

Paper: Echo Park – Holly Jolly Christmas

Dies: Spellbinders – nestabilities – Scalloped oval, oval, scalloped circle, circle. Provocraft – embossingfolder – Snowflakes

Other: Diamond Stickles. Distress Ink – Gathered Twigs. Colored Rhinestones.

A Forest-Christmas-Card

(I’m once again sorry for the bad quality of the photos but in Gothenburg it’s either dark from storms or night right now so it’s a bit hard with the lighting)

So today i have had an entire free day and I’m feeling healthy and alert so i deiced to make a card for my baby sister.

Last week I went to Borås with my sister and mother and Tina said that she really wanted a card with Squirrels. And fortunately for me i stamped a couple of the squirrels and the deer from the Greeting farm when i was in Kumla om the gathering.

So i colored the squirrels with copics. I tried to get a textured acorn i do think i succeded, but im not very happy with the dark squirrel so i guess it evens out:). The image is mounted on a nestabilities oval and label 18.

The Color Throwdown Challenge

The papers that are used a from Basic Gray’s Nordic Holiday, except for the woodgrained one that is from the Life of the Party collection. I knew that i wanted to go with a green and brown theme to get a forest-feeling, but after checking in on this weeks Color Throwdown Challenge i through in the bown-pinkish paper also (It feels less fink and more sueded in RL i think).

The layout is made from this weeks Sketch Saturday and i did embellish the card with some brown fuzzy brads and some smallpinecones i found on my way from work one day (mohaha, me collection stuff doesn’t always turn out with me throwing things away). The sentiment is From You Do and says ”Happy Christmas” in swedish, strange phrasing for us also but i really like the font. The greeting is framed with on of spellbinders ribbontags.

Sketch Saturday Challenge

This weeks Simon Says Challenge is a photo-inspiration and i really got stuck on the green ornament with the white tree:)

Copic-course

So yesterday i was on a Copic-course at Scrap and Hobby. It’s not a copic-certified leader but i went to get some company and maybe get some new nice color-ideas.

We were 6 and our leader Therese and i was really nice. All the images used this time if from The Greeting Farm. So here comes the images we colored:We started out with coloring Flirty Edward from the Roll Call-kit. I so fell in love this color-combination for hair. I looks so rick and I’m really happy about how it turned out! I think I have to get two new pens;) The white highlights are made with a regular Gelly roll pen.

  • Skin: E51, E21, E11, E93
  • Hair: E49, E29, E37
  • Shirt: R59, R46, R27
  • Pant: B97, B95, 93
  • T-shirt: W1, W3, 0

There were only three sets of pens so we had to share so we didn’t all make the same color-combinations. The woman i shared pens with made this bright and fun Edward and i really liked it so i quickly made one to member it for later, so the shadowing ain’t as good as it could be. I did like both the green and blue as more radiant ones.

  • BG09, BG05, BG01
  • G07, G14, YG03

W1Then we did one in graytones and the image is Cheeky Rockabilly. I’m very pleased with the hair again. I think that after this one and Flirty Edward I’m actually gonna feel more confident with hair. This was my first time playing with the warm grays and i do like them a lot. I did think they were gonna be a bit more brown so i didn’t feel the need for them yet, but now they headed up on my wishlist. It’s really dangerous to go on courses like this – I’m so proud i didn’t get any new pens with me home… I do miss some more depth in the face and on the skin. We only did use Ciao so the W2 wasn’t available but i think that it could be a good idea to use for those that have sketch or originals.

  • skin: W1
  • hair: W3, W5, W7
  • cloth: W5, W7

This is Dylan from the Roll Call Kit and i gpt to play a little bit with him before trying to catch the bus home. I really liked hos his face turned out and i think i have to try this combination more at home. I also think that i have to make my first try on dark skin to make his justice. I did color his entire face, including the eyes with the E51 and E21, but i did use the Blender Pen to give them a lighter shade in the end.
