Deckchair Dreaming

Today is my dear stepfathers birthday and I did this card this weekend. There is an photo of Olle when he is resting in our hammock and always when I think of summer and Olle i think of that photo. The history behind it aren’t that pretty but the photo is etched to my memory and as soon as i saw this image from Lili of the Valley I just new that i needed to have it and that many cards from now on for Olle will be with this motive.

Anyway the card is a step-card, you can see my blueprint for it if you click the link. The papers are from DCWV’s The Guy Stack. The image is always colored with Copics and I just my new E70’s pens for the wood and the chair and I really like that shade to this dark cardstock.

So after looking at the cards made last year i realized that i couldn’t keep it to only 5 so i had to come do a top 7 instead. So here is my top 7 (in no specific order)

A Wintery Birthday card

(better picture coming tomorrow when I can take one in daylight)

So I just finished up another card that have been in peaces on my desk for months. I did color the mice for a long time ago and did choose a couple of papers from the DCWV’s Christmas pack, but i just ended up using two of them. The card if for my grandmothers birthday next week. The layout is using this weeks Simon Says Stamp Challenge that is a sketch. I don’t really know what to say more, i wish a had some of the spellbinders grommet tags for the sentiment, but nothing i had at home looked good and i don’t really think that the small text is enough either but i was the best i could come up with. The border is made with on of the inserts from Spellbinders edgeabilities, the classic rick rack one. Because it was the insert i traced the edges and cut it out.

Copic: E13, E11, E21, E00, E04, E31, E33, E35, R29, R39, E59, E40, E41, YG17, YG08, E21, E31, G85, YG67, B91, B93, N5, N3, N1, E57, E49, E29, E11, N9, N7, N5, N3, E57, E33, E31, E43, 0

A Blue and Purple Fathom Calmsea

I got a nice tip from Birgitte the other day about an challenge over at the Copic Challenge Group that is about colors of the sea and of coarse got a nice fuzzy feeling and started out another of Sweet November’s mermaids, this time Fathom Calmsea.

Sense the challenge was about colors if the sea i had to keep to the blue theme but i do some more water-like before so i wanted to make this one not so extremely obvious. So i checked through my stash and found DCWV’s Winter Combo stack and wanted to use it. I started out with the light paper and thought it reminded me a bot of seaweeds and corals.

I colored Fathom Calmsea and the three Lios accordingly to the papers. I really like the green touches and I can almost see her peeking up from a puddle of seaweed:) I also tried a new way of coloring the tail. I wanted to get a more fish-like feeling with scales but didn’t want the normal round scale so i tried some horizontal lines. Björn said it look like mackerel so it it worked on him at least.

The divider between the two background-papers is made with the Dainty Dots-die from My Favorite Things. For embellishments i used a baby blue satin ribbon and some light blue rhinestones. The card is made from this weeks Midnight Madness Sketch. Instead of the circular parts of the sketch i placed Lio to take up that space. The greeting is “You make me Happy” in Swedish.

Stamp: CC Designs Sweet November Fathom Calmsea and Lio. Vilda Stämplars “Du gör mig glad”

Copic: E11, E21, E51, E93, R20, R22, B00, B41, B32, BV02, BV13, BV04, YG17, YG13, 0

A Micely Cupcake for my grandfather

This card is for my grandfather for his birthday on the 27th.. A couldn’t help myself so i choose on of my absolutely favorite stamps: the House Mouse Birthday Cupcake one.For the papers and the coloring I had a speciall paper in mind. The paper is the blue one from DCWV’s The Guy stack.

When i was little and spent time up with my grandparents my grandfather always gave me and my sister some nails, hammer, saw and some wood and we did put them together in all kinds of ways. I have to admit that that it really turned out nice or as something but we had so much fun. I did do a Kallaha-game once but that is the only finished thing i can remember. Whenever i see different carpenter tools I always think about him and their driveway, those times is really some of my most treasured memories and I did wanna get a part of them in this card. That background for the card is a part of the warm and fuzzy and warm aspect of the card, an feeling aspect:), and i do hope that bu sharing this i will qualify for this House Mouse Challenge, otherwise i will hope that the warm and fuzzy mice will due;).

All the edges have been distressed with either Tumbled Glass or Vintage Photo to get ride off all the harsh white lines. The brads in the corners have groves like a screw to match the tool-theme. For the shadowing on the cupcake-wrapping i used E39 and a lot of blenderpen. Then only thing i would like to caution about is that the paper I have used is all coated with some glossy material so making the shadows wasn’t that easy and the color just runs of the glossy parts.

Stamp: House Mouse’s Birthday Cupcake, Reprint’s Grattis (“Congratulations” in Swedish)

Copic: E04, E13, E11, E21, N1, N3, N5, R20, E40, E43, N7, N5, N3, E31, E33, E35, C0, C2, E31, G00, BG11, E39, 0

Papers: DCWV’s The Guy Stack

Other: Spellbinder’s Label 18, Tumbled Glass and Vintage Photo Distress Inks.

Christmas hamster: card 3, last one

So I’m done with the last House Mouse and hamster card of the order. This one is a more old-fashioned one and I wanted a white hamster on this one. I really like how the hamster turned out but i do think the mice look a bit tan beside him or her so if i had colored the hamster first i would probably have gone with a lighter skin-combo for the mice.

The papers are, as on the other two cards, from DCWV’s The Christmas Combo pack.

So now i will head over to the next part of the order that will be featuring some Penny Black stamps….

Copic: E21, E11, E13, E04, E93, R20, E41, E40, E43, E31, E33, E35, E39, E37, E35, R29, R39, C0, C2, 0

stamp: House Mouse’s Christmas Opening Presents, Yo Do’s Svensk Jul (Swedish Christmas)

Other: Spellbinder’s Label 8. Antique Linnen Distress ink. EK Succcess’ medium corner punch.

Christmas hamster: card 2

So this morning I finished off the second House Mouse-hamster card.

The papers are, as in the first on, DCWV’s The cristmas Cambbo.. I did color the image with Copics again and this time I got very happy with the result on the orange tone on the hamster. This time I used YR01 instedad of E31. . Another addition i did was that i used more Snow marker compared to the first one so this time it shows off a lot.

For the sentiment I used You Do’s Svensk Jul-set and its mounted on  on Spellbinder’s Ribbontag Trio. Both the ribbontag and the image have been distressed with Peeled Paint. Then i decorated the card with some buttons.

I’m entering this card for

Stamp: House Mouse’s Christmas Opening presents, You Do’s Svensk Jul (swedish christmas)

Copic: E21, E11, E13, E04, YR01, E33, E35, E40, E41, YG17, YG67, R29, R39, C0, E35, E37, E39, N3, N5, N7, 0

Other: Marvy Uchida’s snowmarker. Spellbinder’s Ribbon tag trio. Peeled Paint Distress Ink.

Christmas hamster: card 1

So the next part of the order is 3 regular 10x15cm card (C6) featuring the Christmas House Mouse stamp with the hamster. So here comes the first:

The stamp is of coarse colored with copics and I’m really happy with the tone on the dark brown mouse. I don’t think that the hamster got a enough orange color so I will have to try another combo next time. The papers that is used is from DCWV’s The Christmas Combo stack (10x15cm). The greeting stamp is from Arkivet and is a Christmas text.

I did use a Inspirational Card Sketches sketch for the layout and i have tilted it on my site so it shows from which angle i did interpreted it. I also entered One Stop Challenge due to the fact that it’s three characters on the card.

Something that don’t really comes up on the photo is that on the santa-hat i did use a thin layer of my snow-marker to get some dimension.

Copic: E51, E11, E13, E04, N3, N5, N7, E35, E39, E37, R24, R29, RE39, C0, C2, E93, YR00, E40, E41, E31, E33, E35, 0, C4, C2, B00

Stamps: House Mouse Christmas Opening presents. Arkivet’s Jultext

dies: Spellbinders circle and scalloped circle.

Other: Marvy Uchida’s scalloped punch and Snowmarker

Superman-card

This card is for my friend that LOVES superman and batman, and he happens to have his birthday this weekend.

The papers that i used  is from DCWV’s All about Boys stack, that i actually bought just because these two sheets. Both papers had parts of glossy images, the superman is glossy on the yellow paper and the red words are glossy on the word-paper (and thats why it’s hard to get a good photo of it). I did follow this weeks Sketch Saturday layout and keept very true to it.

The tag on top is created with regular cardstock, Double Do’s alphabet die and Quickutz tag toppers die. The letters are yellow foam, but it was a bit to light to i colored the surface with Y08 to make it darker. I then punched out three holes with my Fiskars handpunch. The word that is put at the tag is the Swedish word for congratulations..

The embellishments on this cards is simple different kinds of ribbon and some minibrads.

Paper: DCWV All about Boys-stack (6×4″)

Copic: Y08

Dies: DoubleDo alphabet, Quickutz tag toppers

Other: Fiskar’s hand-punch

Cards of the day 1 – Cowboy/girl

Today i have tried creating more cards for the bow that i will have in my dear mothers workplace in an attempt to sell my cards. When packing the box I have realized that i have few cards that is for younger kids so that have been the goal for today.

This cards is meant for a a kid that likes cowboys, perhaps a bit older sense it’s kind of clean-looking without much embellishments. The papers is from DCWV’s All About Boys stack (6″x4″) and the horse you can see to the left is a part of that specific paper and have a glossy shine to it which is badly reflected in this picture. The Sentiment is Reprint’s text set and have been stamped with Versa Colors 171 Pine cone, (The senitiment says “Happy Birthday in swedish”). All edges have been lightly distressed with Vintage Photo. The embellishments that is put on the cards is simple some black brads.

I tried to keep the same layout on the inside but in a smaller scale, with the papers reversed. I didn’t need to take a new sheet by reversing the papers with i thought was nice.

Challenges: Lili of the Valley – #100 Anything Goes
